Kitchen Remodel

This kitchen remodel began with good intentions. Our first design set out to reuse the old cabinets but upon demo, we discovered the materials used were compromised and the cabinets began falling apart. Time for plan B. The revised plan required custom cabinets with non-standard sizes and angles. HomeTech 942 built all of the cabinetry from the ground up.

As the build started to take shape many more custom features were added. Along with the standard soft-close hardware on the drawers and doors, pull-out shelving was added where possible. Under-cabinet lighting and outlets were installed into the island.

Extraneous renovations were moving the location of the door to the dining room, electrical wiring for new lights and outlets, and new hardwood flooring for the family room, kitchen, and hallway.

Small Full Bathroom

This full bathroom was gutted top to bottom, leaving only the tub and surround. The house when built in the ’80s had carpet installed in the bathrooms. Why anyone would install carpet in a bathroom is beyond logical reasoning. Luckily that trend didn’t last long. The bathroom is now updated and feels larger with warm blue hues and white trim.

Here’s what was included in this bathroom’s transformation.

  • The flooring was stripped and new tile was installed on top of a new foundation of hardy cement board and a Ditra membrane
  • New toilet, flange, and seal
  • New 48″ vanity cabinet
  • New acrylic resin vanity top with bowl and faucet hardware
  • Added new trim, chair rail, mirror, accessories, with a fresh new coat paint

Completion time for this project was one week, once the vanity and top were delivered.

Half Bathroom

The half bathroom is usually the most trafficked area in the home. Family and guest all get to use this small room in your home. Why not make it as inviting and appealing as the rest of your home.

This finished half bathroom was transformed from top to bottom.

  • New mission style vanity cabinet
  • New custom cut natural stone vanity top, bowl and faucet
  • Added new trim, chair rail, accessories, with a fresh new coat paint

Once all of the hardware and materials were received, this half bathroom was completed in five days.

Raised Bed Garden

A raised bed garden is ideal when space is limited. It also helps with soil compaction and keeps the area well-drained. This garden was designed for easy management and to keep out most of the critters.

The pickets are not too high as to allow for ease of harvesting, yet not too low to keep the rabbits from scoring an easy meal. A fine mesh netting was added before the pickets were attached to further deter smaller rodents.

A gate was installed for easy access, hose hanger, and garden sprinklers. This self-contained raised bed garden made a nice addition to the backyard.

Oak Pantry Shelving

Pantries are never really efficient unless you have a walk-in storage area. Items get lost in the back you can never reach the items in the back, especially the top shelves.

The solution is to install pull-out shelving. These shelves were custom made to fit this pantry. Made from solid oak with oak finished bases. Each of these shelves is made to hold up to 200 lbs. The hardware is made of stainless steel and ore self-closing.

The options for creating a usable, easily accessible pantry are endless. HomeTech 942 can design a configuration that fits your needs.

Large Deck

Customer requested an 18′ x 10′ deck below and existing 10′ x 10′ deck. No problem we said. Little did we know that the water table was high enough to cause soft soil three feet below. So along with the standard flared footers, we added four ground level pads to help distribute the weight. This deck can now support the largest of parties.

As a bonus, we took the privacy screen to the next level. The louvers open and close as would a Venetian blind.

Our next step is to install under deck roofing to the upper deck and a short step down to the ground level deck.

Closet Conversion

What to do with a laundry closet no longer being used to enclose a washer and dryer?

We created a multi-use space to hold those extra pantry items, small kitchen appliances, cleaning items, vacuum, and brooms. We built this space to hold all those items yet keep the cleaning products separate from the food and cooking products.

Instead of a standard divider, we built a closet within the closet to hold brooms, dusters other taller items. The door on the broom closet has shelving on the front to store items for easy access.

The wood was finished with white enamel paint and the broom closet door has a stainless steel handle and magnetic clasps to keep it closed. The closet is enclosed with bi-fold doors.
